About Speech Pathology
The Royal Children's Hospital Speech Pathology Department is one of the allied health departments. Speech Pathologists at The Royal Children's Hospital provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and consultations for infants, children and adolescents with speech, language and swallowing difficulties. The Department is committed to delivering high quality tertiary level speech pathology services informed by the best available evidence. The department is located on the fifth floor of the main building of the hospital.
The Speech Pathology Department receives referrals from a wide range of health care professionals from within and outside of The Royal Children's Hospital. These include but are not limited to:
- Other allied health professionals

- Teachers
The research unit is co-located with the Speech Pathology Department. The research unit is led by Professor Sheena Reilly and is currently involved in a number of research projects (including the ELVS study). The clinical and research programs within the Department work closely together to direct future development of effective assessment and treatment.
